THE HIDDEN WORD

In a forgotten garage on the edge of nowhere, a silent mechanic quietly repairs the broken lives of those with nowhere else to turn—but each act of kindness pulls him deeper into a struggle he refuses to name.

DEVELOPMENT

This project began with a single, unsettling premise:

"What if Christianity became illegal?"

It was that simple.

PRE-PRODUCTION

With the concept locked, the focus shifted to designing a compelling opening. I created a shot list, storyboard frames, and lighting references to define the film's visual language. Every movement was choreographed to reflect tension. Location design emphasized decay and abandonment, while lens choices, sound cues, and light direction were documented to guide the shoot. The absence of dialogue meant visual storytelling had to be deliberate and loaded with meaning.

PRODUCTION

The sequence was filmed with minimal equipment to preserve intimacy and control. Care was taken to use available lighting and practical effects to sell realism. Quiet direction on set kept the tone immersive. Special attention was given to performance—the smallest gestures and pauses conveying volumes. Camera movement was slow and deliberate, mirroring the stillness of the world the character inhabits.

POST
PRODUCTION

In post, I layered ambient soundscapes and mechanical hums to fill the silence with unease. Color grading leaned into desaturation with warm highlights, letting the lone source of light—the Bible—feel symbolic. Grain and texture were added to enhance the gritty, suppressed atmosphere. Motion graphics were used subtly for titling, and the final cut was structured to reflect a world heavy with silence and consequence.
